Vegan recipes for children: 3 simple vegan snacks that kids will love

We all know that people who spend a lot of time outdoors have increased energy needs. Children, in particular, who spend a lot of time in the fresh air, need a snack now and then to give them an energy boost.

Vegan recipe for children: e.g. banana bars as a snack (recipe below)

As parents, we like to offer our children healthy snacks. How about a piece of apple, grapes, or a carrot?

Steffi is a mother of two young children. As much as she would love to offer fruit and vegetables as a snack, one of her children hasn't eaten any fruit since they were 12 months old, with a few exceptions like watermelon in the summer and mangoes on vacation. So what to do?

Steffi doesn't like baking either. She has a real aversion to it.

Steffi's dilemma: She needs recipes for children that are simple and quick, healthy, and ultimately result in snacks that the children will especially enjoy.

Steffi baked and tried out a lot of things, and in the end three recipes for children remained, which she always prepares and which her children like to eat.

Incidentally, these vegan snacks aren't just for children. Anyone who spends a lot of time at the computer and wants a healthy snack will also find the following three recipes excellent.

Vegan Energy Balls

Energy balls sound great, right? This version is quick, easy, and requires no kitchen equipment. A vegan snack for kids that's right up our alley.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of rolled oats (225 g)
  • 2.5 apples
  • 1 banana
  • 4 tbsp applesauce
  • 1 handful of cranberries or raisins (approx. 30 g)
  • Agave syrup (or other sweetener) to taste

Directions:

  1. Peel, slice and coarsely grate the apples.
  2. Mash the banana in a plate.
  3. Mix all the ingredients together. The best way to do this is with your hands.
  4. Form small balls from the mixture and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. This works best with wet hands, so the dough doesn't stick as much.
  5. Bake the energy balls at 160 degrees (top/bottom heat) for about 30 minutes.
  6. The energy balls can be refined with cinnamon, coconut flakes, etc., as desired, or adapted to the taste of the children.

Have fun trying them out and snacking.
