8 tips and game ideas that children especially enjoy in spring.

Spring is here! The sun is shining and it's getting warmer. The birds are chirping and nature is awakening. Our energy reserves are slowly replenishing and we feel an incredible urge to get outdoors.

In this post I'll reveal some wonderful things and ideas that are really fun for children and adults alike in the spring.

On our blog you'll find tips for sustainable Easter gifts, Tips for staying motivated while hiking with a toddler , many ideas for simple micro-adventures in nature and 8 game ideas for rainy weather with children .

Which bird is already there?

The birds are singing again, and others have returned from the south. There's a lot going on in the garden and the parks. Spring is a wonderful time to watch ducks, swans, geese, and their adorable young.

Another fun game to play in nature in spring is bird identification. Which bird sings what? And what do the birds actually look like? Grab some binoculars and head out to the park or woods.

Collect small forest treasures with the nature collection box

Do your children sometimes not feel like going for a walk in nature with you? Then I have the perfect game idea for spring. With a nature collection box for the forest, every walk becomes a little adventure.

Many children find a simple walk through the park or woods boring. They need something to do. With our egg carton template, children have an exciting task. During their walk in the woods, they have to fill the egg carton as much as possible with all the forest treasures shown. A piece of bark, a clover leaf, a flower, or a particularly beautiful stone: while searching for all these objects, children examine the forest very closely. And who doesn't know this? Children love collecting things on walks. With the egg carton, they also have the opportunity to organize their collection and only take what fits inside.

Playing Forest Bingo

Another brilliant game idea for on the go is a so-called forest rally or forest bingo . Simply print out a wall bingo template. The PDF contains all sorts of objects from your surroundings.

Keep your eyes and ears open while walking; it certainly won't be long before you spot your first bird, a bee, or a particularly beautiful flower. During a scavenger hunt, children experience the forest in a very intense way.

Who discovered the most things at the end of the walk?

planting herbs

Sowing seeds and watching delicate seedlings grow is not only great fun for children, but also very educational. Anyone with a garden, balcony, or even just a windowsill can plant herbs like rosemary, basil, dill, parsley, marjoram, and mint.

When the herbs are large enough, it's incredibly fun to guess their scents. Blindfold them, pluck off a leaf, and let the children guess which plant it is based on its fragrance. This way, little ones train their senses and learn about different plant species in a playful way.

With our beautiful memory game "Nature Garden", little garden explorers can playfully learn about the full diversity of the natural garden.

Discover nature together right on our doorstep

Nature blossoms and sprouts, changing daily during springtime. Every walk through the park or forest offers something new to discover. The meadows become increasingly colorful, and more and more small animals and insects emerge.

Who or what is hiding in the bushes and shrubs? What's going on at the stream, and what creatures and plants can you discover in the forest? Grab your kids and your nature guide and head outdoors. I guarantee you'll discover tons of exciting animal and plant species on a walk through the park or woods.

Easter crafts using natural materials

The first flowers are blooming, and spring also offers a wealth of exciting craft projects. Plus, Easter is just around the corner. Even if the weather isn't great, a crafting day can bring joy to more than just children.

How about colorful greeting cards for your relatives? You can decorate colored cardstock with dried flowers or stamps. Painting blown-out Easter eggs requires little preparation and is lots of fun. You can create many little works of art with pens, watercolors, or even just colorful stickers. Afterward, you can decorate the Easter tree together. Small, smooth stones can also be beautifully painted or decorated with flowers. You can find detailed DIY instructions here.

Evening walk with children

A walk on a warm spring evening is a great activity with children. Straight to bed after dinner? That's hard when it's still warm and bright outside. Why not take a short walk? You're sure to sleep better afterwards.

How about a picnic in the park or forest?

Eating outdoors is something really special for children, and it's even more fun in springtime temperatures. Surprise your children with a delicious, homemade chocolate cake or other treats they don't have every day. Pack a picnic basket together and take a trip to a lake, the forest, or a woodland playground.

Eating ice cream in spring with children

What could be better in spring than strolling through the neighborhood with children, ice cream in hand? All children love it, and ice cream is a sure way to motivate any child to take a walk in the fresh air.
